SUMMARY

This position reports indirectly to the Team Leader and directly to Operations Supervisor. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with production operations in a specific area/process on a single shift. Assist in the coordination of activities of assigned work groups to ensure that all personnel are adequately deployed and production operations are properly scheduled to achieve planned requirements. Responsible for the coordination of OJT (on the job training) in assigned work area. Serves as the back up to the Team Leader and works under limited supervision.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in the coordination of the day to day operations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Takes appropriate measures to ensure all products are completed to production and technical specifications (including SPC) regarding quality.
  • Coordinates and assists in providing proper training of production personnel in assigned operation.
  • Reads, interprets, and executes manufacturing procedures.
  • Assists in ensuring that productivity objectives are achieved.
  • Optimizes machine “UP” and “RUN” times’ utilization.
  • Troubleshoots production problems.
  • Assists in maintaining production reports and records.
  • Defines problems, collect data, establish facts and make valid conclusions with regards to the process and the quality of the product.
  • Regularly performs audits for Safety and Quality purposes.
  • Relay Safety, Health, Environmental and Regulatory (SHE&R) information to and from the employees to the SHE&R Department and Area/Group Managers and Supervisors
  • Report significant, high severity or consequence problems or potential problems to the Area Manager, Supervisor and Safety Department on a mishap report
  • Observe and report at risk behaviors and conditions using the Safety Watch form on a weekly basis (one observation in and one observation outside the assigned work area)
  • Provide training approved by the Area Manager, Supervisor or SHE&R Department
  • Participate in process safety related activities (e.g., MOC, PSI, PHA, SOPs)
  • Participate in safety council, safety meetings and safety audits, as necessary
  • Schedule and coordinate team member on-the-job training (OJT), production qualification, and classroom training needs with the Area Crew Supervisor
  • Liaison between Manufacturing, the Training Department, and employees being trained
  • Provide recommendations to the Training Department and participate in the updating of training materials and documentation (e.g. training travelers & matrices)
  • Conduct and/or oversee Team Member OJT, including: department orientation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) training, safety requirements, product quality, Process Specifications, and qualifying employees in production processes
  • Report on progress of employees under guidance during employee training periods
  • Follow established Business and Management System Procedures
  • Facilitate meetings and training as necessary or requires
  • Attend and participate in scheduled training meetings and classes
  • Report weekly training activities


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of employees
  • Must have a strong understanding of manufacturing and administrative processes
  • Demonstrate proficiency within the area of responsibility
  • Demonstrated knowledge of assigned production lines and processes
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must be able to work flexible hours (meetings, training, shift coverage, overtime)
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to read and understand SOPs
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English


Physical Demands and Work Environment

Lighting and temperature as required for manufacturing area. Appropriate safety equipment as required by area. Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, including radiation and explosive materials. The physical activities of this position include medium work lifting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, walking, standing, sitting, reaching, kneeling, repetitive motions, stooping, balancing, pushing, pulling, coordinating, talking and hearing.
